Elizabeth Stone - June/July 2008

Elizabeth is a contemporary realist in that she uses traditional techniques to portray the world she inhabits. Her favorite subjects are portraits, figures and still lives which she paints from life in oils and pastels. Elizabeth’s work addresses connections: between air and light, fabric and skin, the expression of eyes and mouth, the personality and the gesture of body. Her still life paintings are frequently metaphors for family relationships and emotions. Her studio is on the second floor of the home she and her husband built in Florence, Massachusetts.
